Project 2.5
Our desire at Nettwork is to address the needs of those living within 2.5 miles of the campus location. Our inspiration for this is from Jesus’ miracle of using two fish and five loaves to feeds thousands.
Project 2.5 focuses on campus enhancements and includes:
- Creating shared-use spaces to be used by shelter residents and community partners focused on addressing poverty and homelessness such as classrooms, computer lab, community event space, improvements to a large recreation/green space area, community garden
- A hygiene station
- Laundry facilities for area homeless (non-shelter residents)
- Renovating a shared kitchen and dining space for community meals
Below are some volunteer areas where you can help this community. The Nett Church at The Nettwork Campus is here to be the active hands of Christ for this community. Take a look at some of these areas, and then fill out our Volunteer Skills and Interest Form at the bottom of the page so we can work with your strongest skills and interests.
DIYers We Need You!
The Nettwork has use for many working hands who are skilled in construction, electrical work, painting, tiling, caulking, etc. There are so many projects at the campus for which we could use volunteers with this type of experience. We always have landscaping projects that can use help. Nettwork Campus is a large property.
Hospitality
In addition to renovation, many of these facilities, such as the laundry, will need to be hosted by volunteers. A friendly, welcoming person can make a huge difference when someone is homeless. If hospitality and friendliness are your forte, consider volunteering at The Nettwork Campus in this capacity.
Tutors
Many homeless children struggle with school, not only because of transient housing situations, but also because of the lack of access computers and internet after the school day is over. These children could benefit from assistance from loving tutors who are willing to share their knowledge. If you are gifted in teaching, this would be an excellent volunteer opportunity for you.
Sports
Do you like to get outside and kick a ball around, play catch with a football, baseball or Frisbee, or just enjoy a fun game of tag? If this sounds like you, this community would apprecate some of that good energy! There are lots of children in areas of Gwinnett who do not have access to organized after-school sports opportunities. The Nettwork Campus would like to serve the community in that way. So if sports is your thing, we have jobs for you.
Gardening
Do you have a green thumb? Are you interested in feeding our community with nutritious Nettwork grown fruits and vegetables? The Nettwork Campus has a community garden that is growing larger each day. If gardening is your passion, or maybe just a fun hobby for you, pitching in at the community garden could be the right volunteer placement for you.
Volunteer with our Partners
The Nettwork Campus has unique opportunities for many different volunteering skills sets. If you are interested in volunteering in the shelter or assessment center, please contact our Nettwork partners (HomeFirst Gwinnett, United Way or Primerica) for these positions.
